Broadband connection

When I click on Start > Connect To > Show all connections > LAN or High-Speed Internet shows 1394 Enabled 1394 Net Adapter.

Do I need a broadband modem or can I simply connect using the 1394 (Firewire) connection?

Or do I need a broadband modem? The ones I have seen all connect via USB - would I be better off with a modem connected via 1394 (Firewire)?
