hi please can you advise if i can connect to ntl broadband using win nt and which if either is the better connection usb or ethernet?

Yes and Ethernet card, as USB is resource hungry, NTL say "UP TO 80% of resources used with USB"

Fitting a card is really easy.

Server Edition might be but i assume 2020 is running NT Workstation, which is a desktop OS rather than a Server OS.

Since Windows NT doesnt support USB I think you will need to go for ethernet.
