I have a compaq Presario 700 Laptop running WinXP Home and on bootup I cannot see the on screen boot up data as there is a compaq logo filling the screen. How can I stop this image appearing on screen during bootup.

I hate PC's that do that.

But i guess it is supposed to stop the ignorant from fiddeling.

Of course they fiddle anyway, so it really only acts as a free advert for the maker.

I think the screen is loaded into the bios, so the only way to get rid of it, unless there is an option in the bios settings to 'disable splash screen', is to flash the bios with a BIOS version that does not include the splash screen to start with.

But i am sure that someone will come up with a workaround, if there is one.
