boot virus

i have just installed mandrake on a seperate partition along side win xp, when i come to boot up into either linux or windows i get the message that my chipaway virus scanner has detected a boot virus, my antivirus does not show any. what is it?

It`s probably just responding to the modification made to the MBR when you installed Mandrake.

As it can`t tell that you intentionally modified the MBR it will flag a warning message.

Your AV should be able to scan all boot records and reasure you that no virus is present.
