boot sequence problems with sata hdd

  Blubottle 11:15 25 May 2018

hi, my system is win 7 with two ide hdd's as slaves and one Sata hdd, problem is although the sata hd is recognised and is shown in the boot selection tab it will not boot from it but selects one of the IDE drives which does have an OS on it (linux). It's been quite a while since I last tinkered with adding hdd's so I'm a bit rusty. Although the added Sata drive is recognised if it is empty should it attempt to boot but report that there is no valid sector ect. some help please.

Although the added Sata drive is recognised if it is empty should it attempt to boot but report that there is no valid sector ect.

If there are no boot files it should be ignored.

I had an old PC with EIDE and sata drives and it would not boot at all with both fitted.

Your boot disk containing the system files needs to be "Active" and you may need to use BCD editor to sort the boot menu if dual booting windows and Linux.
