I have a friends pc that wont boot. It powers up because I can hear the fan and the power light on the front is on. Also the hdd light on the front is on permantly.

Gonna take the hdd out and see try it in another machine.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Have you checked all data connections between the drive and motherboard?

You could also boot from a CD using Ultimate Boot Disk click here and see if the drive can be read.

Do you get any POST beeps?

If you know the BIOS make, this might help: click here

No there are no post beeps.

I put the drive in another pc and it works fine.

Have you tried the safe mode?

Cant get to safe mode because there is no output on the screen, nothing.

All that happens is the psu and cpu fans are working and the lights on the front are on, but thats it.

It may be on the way out,can you test the pc with a different PSU?

I have tried a another psu and got it to start but only into BIOS. For some reason it wont boot into windows.

Corrupt drive.

or faulty memory

Remove one stick at a time and retry.
