boot problem

Hi everyone

Our computer in work has problems booting, it is windows xp, just as it boots it says 'auto detecting pri master', then it says 'auto detecting pri slave'
( press escape to abort)

It stays like this till you press escape and then says 'boot failure' pls insert floppy or c/d.

I have tried using the 'windows xp boot disc ( 6 discs), when it eventually loads up it gives you the options to install windows xp or press 'r' to repair, with this option nothing happens at all.

This has actually happened many times refusing to boot up, then for some reason it just corrects itself after endless rebooting.

any help appreciated

Thank you

this problem sometimes occurs with usb devices plugged in. Try unplugging all usbs and see if it improves things.
