Bluetooth dongle killed internal speakers

  Brite Cheney 02:01 13 Apr 2017

I recently purchased some bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth dongle for my Asus x55a laptop. After some finagling I got the headphones to work, but I have to restart everytime to get them to connect. That's not the real problem though.

Th real problem is now my laptop's speakers don't work. I dualboot ubuntu and windows 7. the problem exists in both OS's. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers in Windows and also reinstalling pulseaudio in ubuntu. Nothing seems to work.

Any help?

You don't say which OS you are using, however have you looked in Control Panel - Sounds to see which is the default output? It is possible the Bluetooth dongle is set as the default.

My apologies, you did clearly state the OS It's early in the morning !

No worries. I did of course check which output it is using. Even when the bluetooth is off and unplugged it still will not play through the speakers
