Blue screen of death

  wids001 18:21 26 Sep 2008

Switched on computer tonight and after loading to front screen I got BSOD with message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Rebooted and ran for 5-10 minutes and it happened again. Have checked for irq conflicts but none shown. No new hardware added or software.

Dell inspiron 2400
750mb memory
40gig HDD (6.9 free)
Windows XP SP2

Can anyone give me any pointers please. Thanking you in advance.

Thanks Fruit Bat. Not too sure what it could be. The stop code reads

STOP 0X0000000A (0X00000017, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X804E409A)

Does the last section give any pointers?

Have you ran a memory test?
memtest86 is a good test

i had the same problem as that. the only way that i was able to fix it (after many months of trying) was to send it off to a computer expert and he told me that the reason for the blue screen of death was because some of the wires of my dell inspirion were undone and had burnt some of the circuit. he also wiped the whole memory of the computer and now it is perfect again!!! if not better! he also said that some of the programming was all messed up so he had to reinstall nearly all the of the programmes.
i think that you should have your memory wiped and check the programming. it only cost me £30 for it to be done. better safe than sorry.

Remove and refit the memory modules as they may have started to work loose.

Run memtest if no different

Thanks everyone.

It happened once again & the dell diagnostic lights showed a memory problem. Have removed & refitted modules 2 days ago and since then it's been okay .... finger crossed!
