blue ray player for laptop

I recently purchased a blue ray player for my laptop that I use in my truck when away from home.. however it says that it needs internet connection to work.. I try using my mobile phone as wifi hotspot to get it to run but don't seem to have very good internet as when disc plays it is very jerky and doesn't play properly.. Do all blue ray players for laptops need internet connection or are there any out there that don't?? Or software that would enable me to use it without internet.

No it shouldn't need internet connection. I assume you are playing dvd's?

I believe blu ray streaming is more data intensive so it's down to your internet connection I think.
