Recently i have been receiving unsolicited messages directing me to internet sites. It shows not only the web address, but the domain name server address.
I am running XP and recently disabled the firewall to correct an ISP problem. Firstly has this caused the problem, and secondly how do i block future messages?

Your help is appreciated.

How exactly are you receiving these messages?

Are they via email?

Are they like pop-up adverts when you are surfing?

Are they Messenger messages?

The fix depends on the method.

I believe they are messenger messages.

This sounds like the likely culprit - click here

Would I be correct in assuming that this only effects Windows 2000 and XP

As far as I am aware, it is only W2K and XP that have Messenger enabled by default
