Black screen when AMD driver is enabled

I have a custom built desktop on Windows 7. Graphics card is Radeon HD 7800.

Last night, out of the blue, I had a black screen crash. Restarted my computer and the screen would just go black after the Windows logo. Eventually, after some digging, I found a suggestion to disable to display driver. That worked, but all attempts to reinstall the driver have failed. I've used a driver uninstall tool in Safe Mode to completely uninstall the driver, tried reinstalling the most current AMD driver, that didn't work. I then uninstalled that one, same method, and installed Catalyst 15.7.1. Exact same issue again.

I can't really find any advice on how to fix this other than "Update your drivers," which obviously is not helping right now.
