Black Ink won't print on Epson P50

  modsteve60s 20:39 05 Nov 2010

Hi there

After non use of computer for a couple of weeks my black ink won't print. I've changed the catridge twice and cleaned the heads it half a dozen times, but it still won't work. The other colours seem fine. Can anyone please advise me?
Many thanks.

Hi - there may be something here click here it appears it could be due to a blockage due to "drying out"

Remove Cart then use a Syringe and cleaning fluid in the cart outlet hole of the holder, the bit that spikes the cart to let ink out

But if you do, do it VERY gently otherwise you could damage the printhead.

Simply made at home.
When refurbishing machines that have been discardeed
I have some times found thast the sayringe needs to be kept in place with pressure on - some times overnight to allow the coagulated ink to dissolve.
But as already advised - Gently does it it.

Also a label and or moulded in cartoon instructions.
Follow those.
Also the the Software disk has a manual- load that and read up - you Need Adobe Reader for this - that is on the disk also.

I know in the 'olden days' a good trick to clear a blockage was to put the printhead in a sealed plastic bag and immerse it in a pot of hot water for a few hours.

Which hit a point - At no time did modsteve60s
mention his printer make.
I and I suspect Woody were assuming - Epson machines which have heads built in to machine
Others Canon/Lexmark/HP of course have integrated heads and cartridges
Should have found out that bit of course at first
