bios updates help 1

  rsturbo 17:39 30 Oct 2003

have asus a7n266-vm with duron 1400 cpu. the bios needs updating to work with new cpu - fine. have created floppy with boot and flash software as instructed by asus site. when i start pc it recognises memory and cpu but stops as it displays the bios version. it won't let me into the bios setup (press del to enter) and sticks there. i need to access the setup program to get pc to boot from floppy to start bios update. i am at a complete loss what to do - any ideas would be appreciated. this is a new pc build.

You could use the Asus bios flash utility from Windows

Is the Duron 1400 the cpu you will be using if so any bios should be ok so there may be something else amiss

You didn't try flashing the Bios from windows or a Dos box, did you?

Have you tried clearing the cmos

no difference

Does it recognise the Duron 1400 as such, also back to basics have you altered jumper on board to 100 from 133[default].
