I have been having trouble on boot up. Having to hold down the ctl key or it would not boot into the system and stopped at the screen showing the keys to press to get to the bios.then the computer would hang up. I have changed the battery and now would like advice on the jumper on my motherboard.I have a good book on this but it only shows you what to do,not the results of doing it?can anyone explain the actions of resetting the bios please. misfit

It will return the BIOS to its 'out of factory' settings. So if you had made any changes, disabled the on board sound for example, then this will need to be done again.

If you removed the battery that is as good as using the CMOS jumper as it just clears it to its default settings. If you do use the jumper dont forget to pull the power lead out of the PSU to make sure there is no power at all flowing.
