will display CPU temp

Sisoft do a benchmarking program that can display CPU temp click here althouth it is not 100% correct.

The manufacturer of your Motherboard may also have a simple utility for displaying CPU temp fan speed etc.

You could try this;

click here

It's really a program to alter the speed settings for your system fans, but it's great to use just to monitor the temperature of your CPU, hard drive and mobo.

If your mobo has the functionality to monitor these things, then speed fan should work on your system. On my system, the readings it gives are exactly the same as what's reported in my BIOS.

If you minimise it, in your notification area it shows you the CPU temperature in real time(if you go into configure/options, you can even change the colour and font size). Also, if you place your mouse over the icon, it will show you the other temperatures to.
