Beeps on startup

Well, after just 3 months of working faultlessly my Acer laptop let me down last night.

It started normally but froze at the desktop and I had to use the on/off button to turn it off.

The machine didn't restart initially, when I tried to turn it back on I just heard a series of 'bleeps'. I used the on/off button to turn it off, disconnected the mains, disconnected the battery, reconnected everything, turned it back on and it was fine.

I know that the 'bleeps' are significant and I would like to know what they mean, does anyone know where I can find out?

Although the machine now seems to be working fine, because of these 'bleeps' I'm concerned that there is a more serious problem waiting to bite.

Thanks,
Terry

and check out the beep codes for your particular Bios.

The beeps mean different things according to how they sound and signal device errors, they are listed in the motherboard documentation.
