BB a long way from exchange

Latest issue of PCA page 78 states "Even the few isolated spots where it isn't possible to get ADSL or cable broadband can - or will shortly be able to - get high-speed internet access." My son lives on a farm a quarter mile or so from the local village and hasn't been able to get BB so far, fastest d'load is about 28 kbs, really paiiinful. Does anyone know what is implied in the above statement "will shortly be able to get". Thanks.

The government have been stating that everyone will be on broadband for years. The only problem , is that some people are in isolated or difficult areas, were the service providers will not spend money in giving this service.

Plans are afoot to connect isolated communities, but when it comes down to isolated individual customers, the picture is bleak !
Dont hold your breath. It's never going to be a viable prospect of connecting these long lines to broadband, the cost is too great.

Thanks both. Only solution seems to be to move!
