Battery self build

Hi. Just wanted to know is it possible to self build a battery pack for my laptop.
I assume that they just use the same batteries inside the proper laptop case anyway but its finished of to fit inside the laptop

So if I don’t mind how it looks then can I make my own.
IE correct volts and wattage etc.

I was thinking could this also go into the in socket that the adaptor usually goes into from the mains or does it have to be via how the proper battery would go in.

I get my mobile phone batteries from the company that spuds has reccomended and they are good and reasonably priced. You should find something to suit you without having to fiddle to make one up.

Laptop batteries have a high capacity as regards maximum current being available at critical moments. You would be hard pushed to find a substitute, it's not a case of stringing a few AA Duracells together!

Though you could try a car battery! Second thoughts, don't!
