battery change problem

hi all, i am going up to look at friends pc which aint working right. she phoned and said she had to change the battery inside the pc and now it aint connecting to the usb board??? any ideas before i go and try. when you change the battery does that not reset the bios of the pc? is there an easy way to fix this if it does. i think she uses windows xp. any help would be great as i have never dealt with anything like this before on a pc!!!

Changing the CMOS battery will reset the BIOS to factory default setings.

If USB ports are not working theN enter BIOS and "enable" USB FOR DOS.
