I used to have some simple batch files that I ran in Windows 98 for starting several programs at one click.
e.g:

Start "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
Start C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:
In XP home, windows explorer starts OK but not IE or other programs I add to the list. What am I doing wrong??

I tried running a similar batch file in XP and it does not work properly. I now use the Start Prog to load IE, Word etc as its booting up. Why does a batch file not run in XP, is it DOS prob? David

This is an example of a batch file that I used to use in Windows 98, with more lines of similar:

Start "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"

Start C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:
In XP home, windows explorer starts OK but not IE or other programs I add to the list. What am I doing wrong??

I think I once read that batch files don't work in XP but I can't find reference to that on the net. (Searching my C: drive I found Xp uses .bat files for uninstalling Windows updates.)

Start "" "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"

Try that. (Ps. I'm a complete novice at batch files).

So it would be :

Start "" "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"

Start "" "C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE"

START ""C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
CLS
EXIT

CLS
EXIT

CLS and exit on different lines
