barebones system upgrade...which is better?

hi i have the choice of these two upgrade solutions for the same price...which is better:


256mb ram
Intel Celeron 2.4GHz
heatsink and fan
256MB DDR 400mhz
5.1 channel AC97


256mb ram
sempron 2600
256mb ddr 400mhz
5.1 channel AC97

everything other than tose bits are hte same like graphics and stuff, its just hte proccesosor i need help with....

please help me make a decision

I've always preferred the AMD processors so that's the way I'd go.

But if you can get either a pentium or athlon for around the same price, it would be better.

I`m bias towards AMD too.
I`ve heard that AMD use the numbering on their chips to compair to Intel` 2600=2.6Ghz
Dnt know how true it is though.

I would avoid the celeron, as it's a cheaper made pentium lacking some of the facilities of the proper Pentium.

Again I would opt for the AMD. As stated they are named after the speed equivalent of a pentium, but do not need such a high speed bus to work.

The semperon is a "cut down" athlon so falls into the same category as the celeron.
