I would say thats a Grpahics driver problem.

i had originally thought so as i have updated my drivers just a few days back.however i just noticed that if i stop [email protected] this sorts it out.as does a restart.folding process priority is set to low and have no slowing down of anything etc and there is only 120mb of 512 used at the moment.

All I can suggest right now is to disable balloon tips and tooltips, reboot, then re-enable them - see if that works.

"Tool Tips - Disable

Disable Tool Tips - Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.

Modify or create, "ShowInfoTip" and set the Value to 0. To restore set the Value to 1. This edit excludes the Start Button.

Disable Balloon Tips - Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.

Modify or create, "EnableBalloonTips" and set the Value to 0. To restore set the Value to 1.

How To: Turn off the Balloon Tooltips and Pop-ups

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder

Options/View/Advanced/Uncheck Popup Descriptions for Folder and Desktop Items.

Related Registry entry:

there is no EnableBalloonTips in the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced jazzypop?

As per the instructions above (Modify or create), you need to create that key, if it does not exist. Edit > new key.

justv added the new dword and set the value to 0 am still getting balloons when i hover over an item in the taskbar and over the home,back buttons in ie6.i restarted after regedit.

thanks at least i know now that is the problem.not a big issue as all works fine just annoying.
