Backup C drive of laptop AND PC to external drive

I have purchased an external hard-drive with Nero BackItUp.

I have backed up the C & D drives of my laptop - dead easy. And also done some incremental backups. Also dead easy.

This has used up about half of the external hard-drive's capacity.

Now I want to back up my PC's C drive which I mainly use for photography and video editing.

My query - Can I back up my PC's C drive to the external drive without it over-writing the laptop's C drive that is already on there - ie. they are both called the C drive!!

You would have been better using Acronis True Image to back to Drive

I got caught with hard sales in PCWorld and Nero came with the package.

It seems okay but the manual does not give me the answer to: Can I back up my PC's (desktop) C drive to the external drive without it over-writing the laptop's C drive that is already on there - ie. they are both called the C drive!!

NO

Yes if you put the two in separate folders.
AGAIN best to use ACRONIS to back up your C: because it backs up files (an image)that are being used by the OS. David

You could always partition the external drive into two seperate partitions, each would have it's own drive letter, therefore no confusion would be possible.

That sounds like a good idea James. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks.
