AVG vs Java/ByteVerify

  Bronica 21:04 09 Jun 2004

I have hade the AVG resident Sheild popup during an Ad-aware 6.0 scan saying Java/ByteVerify virus was detected in
D:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware6Cache\BB.class
with instructions to run AVG for windows to remove. When I do no virus is detected, to add to the confusion if I run Ad-aware under another login on XP home I don't get the virus warning.
Anybody got any ideas?

This is the responce of AVG tech support but does anybody have another explanation.

Thank you for your email.

It is sufficient to delete all files found by Adaware. Some part of program detected by Adaware as spyware or adware was in some form so that it was detected by Avg as virus....

If you run Complete test and no virus is detected then your computer is virus free....

Thank you.

Many thanks Dan

Panda Active Scan found 9 instances of ByteVerify
and dissinfected them.

The info around about this is a bit sketchy some sites say its a false alarm and AVG were less than concerned but thanks for your help.
