AVG prob on scaning

When I use AVG virus scan all is ok but it will not scan some files which shows on completeing the scan which are documents and settings/local services and /networkservices and/owner how can I get avg to scan these files cos I want to make totally sure the virus I had is gone and if I cannot scan then how can I tell.

Not familiar with AVG but maybe its not set to scan the files with these .extentions

I have had the same problem, but only with the Documents and settings folder(XP Pro).
A previous thread indicated that an AVG rescue floppy should be made and the PC booted from this.
However when I tried that I could not get the rescue disc to complete on the 2nd floppy.
Didn't have any joy using a CD-RW either.
Any body else had the problem and hopefully a solution?

Is this AVG 6 Free?

I would suggest getting Avast 4 (free).

It has better detection rates than AVG.

I think you may need to configure AVG to scan ALL extensions intstead of just known virus extensions.

This can be doen by opening AVG antivirus and going to program settings.

Set All extensions, and not smart scan and the other extensions.
