Anyone else experiencing this? I've got the latest version of AVG Free and it keeps telling me the internal virus database is out of date. When I connect to AVG to get the latest, I get a message telling me that AVG is up to date? The colourful little flag is gray!!!!

Try a restart.

If nothing else works download the newest version, go offline, delete it and reinstall.

A restart could sort this out, normally AVG free only updates once a day.It could be you have an update pending, therefore in the morning you should be able to update and the greyed out icon will be reinstated to the normal yellow/red flag.

Johnny,

your clock advice was spot on. I had changed to November and forgot to click back!! What a Wally I am.

Thanks again!
