hi all,

I cannot send emails from microsoft outlook. they just stay in the outbox. I notice if I click onto outlook, avast pops up and seems to be doing something to stop outlook working. I can get into outlook but thats it, it will not send messages.

any ideas of how to fix the problem please? I have HP bog standard lappy running vista.

many thanks

All avast does is scan outgoing messages for viruses.

Check your Outlook settings and firewall settings if mail is not being sent.

Can you receive mail?

Hi Fruitbat,

I seem to be able to receive messages from Outlook when I am in the office to my hotmail account - so I suppose the answer is yes, I can receive them. Not sure how I check my outlook settings?? Sorry. I have all the free stuff as security on my pc - spywareblaster, ccrapcleaner, spybot, winpatrol, and of course avat. I think my firewall is that which came with Vista and have not put on any other firewall.

thank you v much for trying to help.

have a look at click here. you'll need to use your own ISP's settings, of course.
