Auto running programs and customised IE :(

  greenfeld69 17:03 15 Mar 2005

Hi all

When I boot my PC, a new Packard Bell, I always get an option to install internet stuff and something else. It's not in the msconfig startup settings, I can't find it in a startup folder and it's ANNOYING as hell!

Also, they've customised IE with a horrible purple bar with their name on it and I want it to be standard, classic windows.

Any ideas on either or both?

do u have smart restore with your PB comp if you do there are options in there to add or remove programs

It does but I don't think it's a program.

there are programs in smart restore which you can select to remove or add.

the sofware is on hidden partition so don't show up in windows add or remove.PB tend to install sofware you don't want.

The smart restore allows u to remove or add PB bundled software. As well as Restore to factory settings.

All well and good :but pre installed on partition is a pain.

"Take a look in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\SIGNUP Whats in there..?? "

Do I delete the directory?

Oh, cheers Sinbad!

I renamed the folder as a test and the PB headings are gone, so I'm happy.

Still not sure about getting rid of the window that appears on start up.
