Trying to help a friend with lack of sound, Running XP with sp2,only sound is very low volume, tried different speakers, uninstall/reinstall drivers, all volumes/mutes ok, different sound card, same result..low volume. on board sound via chip set/ also tried Yamaha sound card.
I suspect something obvious i've missed..any ideas?

go to option and select advanced options.
in the volume control column click on advanced.
then in other contorl make sure both 1 ac3 spdif
2 pcm spdif are selected.
click close
then options exit
