Attributes on system files

This really should be simple but age must be catching me up. I need to change the h attribute on hidden files such as io.sys and msdos.sys in WinMe.

Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Select file, right click, select properties, tick / untick boxes at bottom of properties page to change attributes.

The h attrib is greyed out. If only it was as simple as it should be, eh?

Try tools> folder options >view> tick the box show hidden files and folders then the box may nolonger be greyed out.

show hidden files was already ticked. System attrib can be unticked, but not hidden. Tried to do it from a dos window but attribs will not reset from there.

Anyone else out there help, please.
