attempted downloads

how can i stop programs from attempting to download. i have aproblem with "Mediaplex", "Doubleclick" and "Avenue A,Inc" constantly attempting to download on my computers. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you use XP click start, click run, type msconfig in the box, click ok, click start up, look for those 2 programs and take the tick out of the box, then click apply then click ok and then reboot your computer, this will stop them running at startup

It would also be an idea to install Adaware, SpybotSearch and Destroy and SpywareBlaster to stop these programs installing themselves again.

If using IE6 go totoo;s- internet options and alter your security and privacy settings.
