Asus SATA cable keeps coming loose.

  Mister Splendid 20:15 08 Mar 2004

I have an Asus A7V600 M/board with a Western Digital Raptor connected via the supplied Asus SATA cable. This cable is not a tight fit and several times, in the few months I have been using these parts, the plugs have moved a little and needed reseating as the hard drive then loses communication with the m/board. Has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution. Especially a brand of cable that fits better and stays connected. It is most often the m/board end that moves, but not always. Whatever I do to fix this must leave the cable easily disconnected.

Used a bit of Blue tack before now to hold old dodgy cards in position.

Might well work with cables.

Worth a try....?

I found it was one of the hdd sockets that was smaller than the other hdd's,so used a bit of blue tack to hold it steady(read it in previous posts)It still disconnects, but nowhere near as often(even when my puter has been winding me up,and I give it a swift kick) ;-)

I am a bit dubious about using Blutack because the oils it cintains may contaminate the contacts. However, a small piece of adhesive tape seems to be working ok, for now. What I was hoping though, was that someone might know of a brand of sata cable that does not come loose.
