Asked Mesh for an upgrade...

  ordep 13:07 31 Aug 2003

...What do you think.

Existing Rig.
Mesh Matrix
AMD Athlon XP 2000
1024 DDR RAM
Audigy 5.1.

AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 2.1Ghz
Asus A7N8X Deluxe V2
Radeon 9700 non pro.

Not sure about fans or PSU, guess Mesh will advise there. My existing PSU is 300w.

What do you run games photos etc

  ordep 14:38 31 Aug 2003

Games mainly, but also video editing & digital photography.

  Rayuk 14:57 31 Aug 2003

Then I would think a 9700/9800 pro graphics card would be a better option and go with XP2800+ to make up the price diff on the video card.

Or better still buy your own components and instal them yourself.

Also you dont say what ddr ram you have.

Looking at you can get
Asus A7N8XDeluxe ver2 @ 91
AthlonXP3000+ retail @ 207
Radeon 9700Pro @ 220
Total £518 + Delivery

Looking at Mesh
Mobo 82
cpu 287
Radeon Non pro 188
Total £557

That is an option Rayuk, but alas I'm no tech-head. Apparently you can flash the bios to a 9700 pro.

  krypt1c 15:40 31 Aug 2003

You could try pricing things here click here

  ordep 15:42 31 Aug 2003

Wow Rayuk, you've been doing your homework.
So at that rate I may as well let Mesh do it for the sake of £39

  Rayuk 15:59 31 Aug 2003

Look again
Mesh non pro
Scan Pro
But at the end of the day it is your choice and I suppose £39 to guarantee it works is ok

I more thing it is best to run cpu and ram in sync ie fsb of cpu at 166 and memory at 166 so if you have PC2100 it could hold you back.

  ordep 16:09 31 Aug 2003

Thanks krypt1c, I'll check that out later
