Hi.Listed under Processes in Task Manager are the following.

svchost.exe user name Local Services
svchost.exe user name Network Services
svchost.exe user name System
Off man.exe

Are they a virus?.According to click here ,under Task manager they are.If correct how are they removed.I have NIS2006 currently installed.Every time the scan is clear?.Many thanks ,Mike

If you have XP then these can be normal processes, although some viruses can pretend to be them.

posted too soon.

Have you language software installed? That's what offman.exe is linked too.

Be careful because there some system files similar. Check the spelling.

Some are svchost and some are scvhost. Notice the SVC and SCV bit.

If you are sure the spelling is svchost then they are system files and required.

If the spelling is scvhost then that is a virus:

Hello all.
It seems from what I have read that they are harmless programs .Thats a relief.I have just scaned with AVG to double check,no issues to report.
One problem answered. Many thanks to you all.

Can I ask another question?.
Can anyone supply a link to a piece of free software which will disable processes in task manager.I have highlighted the process, then clicked end.But when I switch the PC back on,there it is again.
Kindest regards,Mike
