AOL BT Broadband

I have a friend who had a bad experience trying AOL Broadband & they couldn't help with the problem he had and agreed to cancel the contract. He now wants me to install BT Broadband for him.

Assume it would be preferable to delete AOL programmes in control box before installing BT?

Assume he will need BT's own ADSL modem and that the AOL one he had will just go back to them?

Any recommendations appreciated.

Uninstall aol, do a search for aol after and delete all references to it, if your lucky this will get rid of it, if not a clean install.

brambles, as jimv7 says. Remove from add/remove programs, then do a search for all AOL files/folders and delete as you find. This will still leave approx. 60-70 files on the PC that will not delete even from safe mode.

You can go into the registry and remove them but there really is no need to do so, they will not affect the use of another ISP and will not show up in any applications you use. As far as using the PC you will never know they are there, it's only if you go searching for them that they will show.

AOL will send a jiffy-bag within a few days for your friend to return the modem. j.
