Anyone know the RAM limit for Windows ME?

Yes, 512Mb it is. More may cause you problems.

I've just read this in Computer Shopper. To work around the problem of installing RAM over 512MB. Click Start, Run and enter sysedit. In the system.ini file look for an entry called [VCache]. If it is not there , add the following or modify the existing line:

But the above command simply limits the memory available to windows to 512Mb, therefore defeating the object of installing 768Mb anyway.

you may want to dual boot, and use the 768mb in XP and not in ME/98, so then the above info applies,

or just go into msconfig, and limit ME's RAM to 512mb.
