any decent free antivirus software worth using???

i currently have McAfee but my susciption has ended (feeling tight), is there any decent free antivirus programs out there worth using. Or should i bite the bullet and re-new my subsciption????

Don't bother, AVG or Avast are just as competent.

This has been asked many times. Use AVG or Avast. Both free, both excellent. There is no need for home users to pay for an AV and paying does not mean that you are better protected.

Avast! has the added benefit of updating itself when you go online and you can vary the time as required between each update check via Settings.

The updating is notified both visually and aurally.
