Old 95, now 98SE, Bios Phoenix Technologies motherboard, 1995. I've fitted an OPTi 82C861 USB PCI, getting 5v OK, but all devices connected come up as 'unknown', and don't work.According to click here I'm doomed.Any glimmer of hope, anyone?
What devices ? Obvious question have you installed the device drivers ?
Did you install the drivers for the pci card
Optical mouse, card reader and Olympus camera drivers installed so far.alan227, no drivers found for PCI card.
Just found a driver site click here will give it a go.
Have a look near the Back of the motherboard for two rows of USB header pins there will be 4 or 5 pins in each row and they will be side by side on the back edge of the Mobo. they may be covered by Com wires so you will need to look
USB drivers are loaded from Mobo CD
PS also look in BIOS to see if USB is enabled
I'll look for the pins when the sun comes up!Mobo CD?, Did they have CDs in 1995?No USB in BIOS (yet).Jeffers22, not going the flash route again, thanks!
Thanks, worth a try!
