Is it a good idea to run with more than one anti virus system ? I'm running with trend pcillin & avast home4.6. will they conflict? comments please

  stalion 21:30 22 Apr 2005

only one anti-virus is recommended at a time

  philtree 21:37 22 Apr 2005

Thanks stalion why is that ? How come we're advised to run more than 1 anti spyware. confusing!

  stalion 21:40 22 Apr 2005

anti-spyware programs do not generally conflict with each other anti-virus can

Anti-virus progs are constantly scanning your PC it is possible that one may detect the other and cause conflict spyware progs do not scan until you tell them to and you would never scan with two at the same time.

Two AV progs tend to detect each other as viruses.Therfore conflict.

Rule is 1 AV 1 Firewall and as much antispy as you like.

Avast versus Trend.. which one?

  stalion 21:48 22 Apr 2005

your choice but I think most will recommend avast

  SANTOS7 21:51 22 Apr 2005

which do you like the look of most but most forum users would recomend AVG7 (free), click here

I'ts funny but Trend was the original but lately seemed to be very inactive with the updates/scans etc. When I installed Avast it suddenly came back to life whether it's thinking Avast is a virus I don't know. thanks 2u all
