Anti-malware programs

  [email protected] 13:10 21 Jun 2010

I don`t have such a program on my computer but have been advised to get one.I run WinXP Home with IE8.
Any suggestions as to programs which do a thorough job will be very welcome and if they happen to be free then doubly so.

1. To block malware: Spywareblaster.
To scan for, and remove malware: Superantispyware and Malawarebytes.
All free. I would download and use all of them as sometimes SAS will find stuff that MAB does not, and vice versa.

John Bunyan uses the same collection that I do, and I second his approach. All free, and all good. More to the point, they've all been consistently good for the last few years.

What anti-virus do you run?

Malwarebytes or superantispyware gets my vote

Note Malwarebytes is only used for scanning of spyware - no background process will be running for instant protection.
