My neighbour asked me to upgrade his Win98se to WinXP Home, the BIOS is an eldely (1999) Award Software 4.60 PGMA. Does anyone know if this might cause a problem? I assume it may be possible to flash this bios but would prefer not to.

There is a compatibility test that can be run - this will check out the whole system. Put ... XP compatibility check ... into a Google search, and check out the links.

I'd love a 700Mhz processor, madboy33™. XP zips along on my 450Mhz and 4.51 Award BIOS.

Thanks everyone for response I'm happy that bios will be ok with XP
