Hi everyone, I need a new modem and as I have a micro atx mobo I am thinking of buying a AMR version to free up a PCI slot.Is this a good idea, is the performance the same and the setup just as easy. Thanks in advance.

AMR (Audio/Modem Riser) is more of an interface between your phone line and motherboard. It has no real processing power of it's own so will put more work on your processor. It really depends on what you use your computer for and how powerful your processor is.

I would personally go for a proper modem card preferably not with an Intel chipset.I prefer Connexant/Rockwell chipsets although I understand these Connexant may have dropped out of this business.
