Can anyone tell me if a AMD AM3 CPU can be fitted to a motherboard with a Socket AM2+.

Typically a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard with a socket AM2+ with an AMD Phenom II X2 (545) 3.0 GHz AM3 Socket.

According to AMD it is AM3 socket for this CPU - However I think I have seen some information where it is backwards compatible- ie AM2+ socket. If I find any further imformation I will post here - unless of course someone else can help with more the meantime.

Hi Dizzy Des

Read the 3rd review down. It appears you CAN use AM2+ socket for this CPU.
