AMD Processor Help

Hello, after being with Intel for as long as I can remember I have just purchased the following AMD Motherboard : Asus M2N32 WS Professional

After a lot of googling I am still confused as to what processors will support this board. Namely, the difference between socket 939 and socket 940. I think this is a socket 940 board. Confirmation?

As I understand it I need to avoid socket 939 processors but when ever I look at Athlon 64 x 2 processors which the 940 supports they seems to come in the 939 category as well. Furthermore, AMD Athlon 64 FX, AMD Athlon 64 X2 seem to be used as terms instead of socket types. Tres confused.

This is the processor I want : AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3GHz) Socket AM2 L2 2MB (2 x 1MB) Cache OEM Processor. Will it work??

Any help for a confused intel man would be appreciated.

If you read this review click here it should clarify everything you ask. Details of the socket (it is 940) and the CPUs supported are also provided - see "Features".

If you look in the motherboard manual it shows that the socket on the Asus motherboard is 940 pins. If you look at the AMD website for the Athlon 64 X2 6000 it shows that it is also 940 pins. Fom that I would assume that these two components are compatible.
