thinkin of upgrading with a 64bit cpu and a compatible m/b, has anyone got any advice, cheers

I have just gone down that route, and wished I hadn't bothered and gone with the best Pentium I could get. There are no speed improvements as a result of having a 64 bit CPU, as there are no, or very few 64 bit capable programmes. If the rumors are true MS will not release the 64 bit next version of Windows to the general public, but only to large OEM's capable of providing support, as there will be many compatibility issues to contend with. Also the release has been put back to 2006 I think.
