alternative to XP defrag prog.

hi good folks...the defrag prog in my computer has decided not to work..XP home..message..unable to launch or connect to diskeeper service. possible causes another diskeeper process conected or not installed correctly 0003 system could not find environment option entered. ... I had it sugested that I uninstall diskeeper light and reinstall...problem is..my computer says it's diskeeper professional and if I delete it I dont know where to get it back as I have an HP system with 6 restore discs... so, to save any of the hasle of unistalling etc. can anyone please advise on a freeware prog. if possible to defrag my C drive..many many thanks...Andy

Diskeeper lite click here

You will have to remove your existing Diskeeper first.

WinXP has it's own built-in defragmenter, which is perfectly adequate.

I did - you said diskeeper was not working - I pointed out that you could use the WinXP defragmenter, as it's free and included with WinXP and works fine.

Still - glad you're sorted anyway.
