alternative to Acronis ?

  Bansaw 20:31 26 Apr 2010

Is there anything out there free that just does a backup to an external hdd, cheap and easy, like Acronis?

I don't mind booting with a CD into unix or using a boot disk to do it.

I have Win7.

Also, will my usb2 ports work as fast if I do it that way?

Try Easeus ToDo, it's free and does a good job. Compatible with Win 7 but I'm not sure about 64 bit.

Replicator is excellent at copying data from one location to another location. I have used it for 9 years without any issues.
Replicator does not do images of hard drives tho, just data only.

Its always worth having a backup. If your hard drive fails and you have a backup on another hard drive then i think it's well worth it.
