Is there anything out there free that just does a backup to an external hdd, cheap and easy, like Acronis?I don't mind booting with a CD into unix or using a boot disk to do it.I have Win7.Also, will my usb2 ports work as fast if I do it that way?
Try Easeus ToDo, it's free and does a good job. Compatible with Win 7 but I'm not sure about 64 bit.click here
This software is a diamond, i have used it many years and whats more, it's totally free !!>> Replicator, Download to your desk top & install>>> click here
If you want to see what you are downloading here is Karen's Replicatorclick here
It may be Free, but does it do what it says on the can????? I know Acronis Does
I do not consider backups can be done on the cheap. Its just no worth it
Replicator is excellent at copying data from one location to another location. I have used it for 9 years without any issues. Replicator does not do images of hard drives tho, just data only.
Its always worth having a backup. If your hard drive fails and you have a backup on another hard drive then i think it's well worth it.
if the hard drives are seagate or maxtor, trimmed down versions of acronis are available freeclick hereparagon is free alsoclick here
Acronis for Western Digital hard drives too click here
But quirky until you get used to it, but it does the job well and it's fast.click here for the web site and downloads. If you want to try it, I recommend you click here and read the tutorial on how to use it, as it makes life so much easier.
