problem with youtube sorted

This was my original posting
OS W2K TRYING TO VIEW VIDEO ON YOUTUBE N KEEP GETTING MESSAGE Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
have updated java thro control panel and have updated flash.
Is this a browser problem ? only use firefox as my browser but have tried viewing video thro IE6 with the same message.
How would I know if JAVA is turned off and if this is the problem how do I enable it?
This is a recenct problem as all video on youtube played in the past.
Any help gratefully received

I would like to thank all of you people that responded to my problem and all of the advice provided.
wee eddie, brundle, hiwatt, earthsea, skidzy, rawprawn n gandolf.
followed all of your sound advice but to no avail, however remembered updating spybot to version 1.5.2 n clearing the few problems it highlighted including ALEXA RELATED.
2 years ago deleting this malware??? result prevented paint shop pro uploading & after reinstating it through spybot it all started working again.
I have just reinstated ALEXIA thru spybot & YOUTUBE is now working perfectly.
Im not sure how bad ALEXIA is but it seems i must live with it to continue using YOUTUBE.
If this information helps anyone else that has stuggled with the problem I have experienced please pass it on.
Many thanks for all of your endeavours
Keep up the good work

Glad you solved it. A post added to your original thread and a Resolved tick would have been sufficient.
