AGP texturing not available in dxdiag

Hi - hope you can help

Just built a new PC. The mother board is an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe running a P4 2.6 (800 FSB) with a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis Pro on XP SP1.

The problem I have is that games run fairly badly and after investigation this seems likely to be caused by the fact that there is no AGP texturing available in DX9b diag screen. The board supports AGP 8X and all the BIOS settings appear to be normal with AGP enabled as they should. The graphics card is running ATI's Catalyst 3.6 driver. I suspect the mobo's AGP driver has not installed properly although Device Manager reports no issues. I have seen this when I built an Athlon and VIA KT133 chipset based machine and Microsoft released a patch for the AGP on W2K.

This time though, I cannot seem to find the ASUS AGP driver for the motherboard. Is there a known compatibility issue? I have done some searches and have found other users suffering this problem however they have Radeon 9700 Pro not 9600 Pro.

I will try the following this evening:

Flash BIOS on mobo.
Re-install drivers from installation CD that came with mobo.
Reinstall Catalyst drivers.

Apart from that I'm stuck. Help please!!
